2. What Personal Information We Collect

CaribooFalls is designed to operate with minimal personal data collection. No account registration is required. No payment information is ever requested or processed. No personal profiles are created.

The following limited data may be collected or processed when you use our platform:

• Age confirmation flag: A boolean value (yes/no, 18+) stored in browser localStorage and/or a cookie on your device. This is used solely to avoid presenting age-gated content to users who have not confirmed their eligibility. It contains no personal identifiers.
• Cookie consent choice: Your accept/reject preference, stored locally. This does not leave your device except as part of standard browser-server communication.
• Server log data: Your IP address, browser user agent, and requested URL may be recorded in standard web server access logs. These logs are used solely for security monitoring and are retained for no more than 30 days.
• Analytics data (if consented): If you accept optional analytics cookies, aggregated, anonymised usage patterns may be collected via analytics tools. This does not include personal identifiers.

We do not collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, payment details, social media profiles, precise geolocation, or any special categories of personal data.

3. How We Use Personal Information

The limited data we collect is used only for:

• Delivering and maintaining the platform (server logs, age flag, consent flag)
• Improving the platform experience (aggregated analytics, if consented)
• Responding to direct inquiries you send us by email

We do not use your data for automated decision-making, profiling, targeted advertising, or any third-party commercial purpose.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (PIPEDA & BC PIPA)

CaribooFalls operates under the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (BC PIPA). We collect only what is necessary for legitimate platform operation, and we obtain your meaningful consent for any optional data processing (analytics) through the cookie preference centre.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser cookies and localStorage to store your age confirmation and consent preference. These are first-party, strictly necessary mechanisms. No third-party tracking cookies are set unless you explicitly accept optional analytics through the preference centre. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

6. Third-Party Services

CaribooFalls uses the following third-party services:

• Bootstrap CSS (unpkg.com): Stylesheet delivery. No personal data is sent to unpkg beyond your IP address as part of the standard HTTP request. unpkg operates under jsDelivr/Cloudflare infrastructure.
• Font Awesome (cdnjs.cloudflare.com): Icon font delivery. Same conditions as above.
• Google Fonts: Web font delivery. Google may process your IP address as part of font serving. See Google Privacy Policy.
• Google Tag Manager / gtag.js (if analytics consented): Aggregated, anonymised usage analytics. Governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We operate under Consent Mode v2 — no analytics data is processed without your explicit opt-in.

We do not sell, rent, or exchange your data with any third party for commercial purposes.

7. Data Retention

• Age flag and consent flag: Retained in your browser for up to 180 days, or until you clear your browser data.
• Server access logs: Retained for a maximum of 30 days, then automatically deleted.
• Analytics data (if consented): Aggregated, anonymised data may be retained for up to 13 months in accordance with Google Analytics’ default retention settings.
• Direct email correspondence: Retained for up to 2 years, then deleted unless legally required to retain.

8. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

You have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you and how it is being used
• Access your personal information upon written request
• Request correction of inaccurate information we hold
• Withdraw consent at any time (which may affect your ability to use the platform)
• Challenge our compliance and have your concern addressed by our Privacy Officer
• Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca if you are unsatisfied with our response

9. Data Security

We maintain commercially reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect the limited data we process. Because we do not collect personal identifiers, financial data, or health information, the risk profile of our data processing is low. Our hosting infrastructure uses standard TLS encryption for all connections.

In the event of a data breach that creates a real risk of significant harm to individuals, we will notify the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and affected individuals in accordance with PIPEDA.

10. Children’s Privacy

CaribooFalls is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from persons under 18 years of age. If we become aware that we have inadvertently processed data from someone under 18, we will delete it immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of CaribooFalls after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
